The LéO Africa Institute is excited to announce the appointment of Inshuti Zirimwabagabo, a professional lawyer with vast expertise working in diplomatic missions and non-governmental organizations, as a Programmes Coordinator. She assumed the position on April 4, 2022.

Inshuti joins a secretariat of experts from a diverse range of backgrounds to focus on relevant critical issues and ideas and further the ideals of the LéO Africa Institute.

“I’m excited that Inshuti is joining us,” said LéO Africa Institute Founder & Senior Director Awel Uwihanganye. “She has acquired enough experience during her professional life to develop a keen understanding of how to ensure our operations are efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of our stakeholders and our shared goals.”

Inshuti replaces the Institute’s Deputy Director Kwezi Tabaro as Uganda’s National Coordinator on the regional “Great Lakes Youth Network for Dialogue and Peace” project. She is now responsible for implementing the project’s activities in Uganda while supporting regional activities in other project countries.

In her role, Inshuti will work closely with the Young and Emerging Leaders Project (YELP) Executive Committee to shape the programming of the Fellowship and sustain its relationship with the institute.

“Inshuti brings to the team the much-needed energy and diverse background working with young people in Uganda and beyond which we hope will help to sustain the growth of our programs in Uganda and the region,” said LéO Africa Institute Deputy Director Kwezi Tabaro.

Before joining the Institute, Inshuti worked with the Austrian Development Agency, supporting the overall management of the Governance portfolio in the focus area of the Rule of law, Access to Justice, and Observance of human rights.

The Middlesex University London alumnus holds a Post Graduate Diploma from Rwanda Bar School (Legal Institute of Legal Practice and Development) and is a member of the East Africa Bar Association.
