Usama 'Osam' Mukwaya is a multi-award winning Ugandan filmmaker and entrepreneur. He’s notable for his films Bala Bala Sese (2015) which was nominated at African Movie Academy Awards, Rehema (2017) a short film that premiered at Durban International Film Festival and his latest award-winning directory debut – Love Faces. He has worked as a General Secretary and Treasurer Screenwriter’s guild of Uganda Film Network and is credited to be the co-founder of Pearl International Film Festival alongside Magezi Moses. The first of its kind indigenous film festival aims to draw attention to raise the profile of local films with the aim of contributing towards the development of Cinema of Uganda and Africa at large. Usama is also the founder O Studios Entertainment, a multimedia production company that has produced numerous successful local and international films with the recent being Love Faces. The Maisha film Lab Alumnus and previous Young achievers award winner in the film television category was recently appointed as the director content Acquisition for Stream Afrique, a video streaming platform specializing in African content.
