Tumaini is a 12-year-old poet in class seven. Her favorite subject is civic and moral. She has been doing poetry for five years. This passion was ignited when Tumaini was asked by her teacher in Dar es Salaam to recite a poem on a graduation day.
Through her work, Tumaini has been featured on BBC News and is a TEDx speaker. She has also performed at Innovation Week Tanzania. Tumaini aims to inspire people through her poetry and make a lasting change in the community. She aspires to be an inspiring poet and a traveling journalist.

As a Mo Ibrahim Fellow at the Economic Commission for Africa, he focused on industrial and agricultural policies designed to accelerate the transformation of the African continent. Before his current role at Visa, he was the COO at EcoBank Foundation and also led a public-private initiative to support an African response to Ebola in West Africa.
Carl Manlan holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School. He is a 2016 Aspen Institute New Voices Fellow. He writes on African economic transformation.
Elizabeth Mwambulukutu is a seasoned communications practitioner and an award-winning visual artist with experience in pan-African development initiatives and in championing the socio-economic empowerment of youth and women.

Beverly is a well-experienced project coordinator with over three years of experience in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. For three years, she was the co-founder of Sophiebot, artificial intelligence to answer young people's questions on sexual and reproductive health.
She recently successfully concluded running a student entrepreneurship & innovation program to create solutions towards improving hygiene and sanitation. Beverly Mutindi Chogo is a LeO Africa Institute Fellow of the Young Emerging Leaders Project, Class of 2018.
Judith is a Founder of Scars In my Voice (SIVO), a community-based initiative that aims to achieve a long sustainable custom of young women speaking up, engaging, and protecting their spaces.
She is an Alumnus of Young Africa Leadership Initiative(YALI) Regional Leadership Center, Emerging Voices Program, and The Moth Global Community.
Rosie Lore exists to inspire courage in individuals, crush mediocrity, expand possibilities, and create a lasting impact.
Over the past six years, her career has transitioned into Leadership Development; she initially managed the Acumen Fund’s East Africa Fellows Program. More recently she supported the set-up of a Stanford University Graduate School of Business initiative – Stanford Seed – a business transformation accelerator that enables SMEs & their CEO/founders to transform and scale their businesses.
Rosie presently serves as CEO to the leadership consulting practice, The High Energy Group www.theheg.org, which predominantly serves business executives, entrepreneurs, and their management teams offering individual and team coaching as well as facilitated experiential leadership workshops that impact organizational health and business performance.
William Babigumira’s professional experience spans the Public and Private sectors (a total of eighteen years) with extensive managerial and consulting experience in international business strategy, entrepreneurship, e-commerce, project management, and enterprise development.
William is the Chief Executive Officer of Pentascope Strategy Consult Ltd and a Senior Member of Faculty at LéO Africa Institute.
Wanjũhĩ Njoroge is the founder of People Planet Africa, an Enterprise involved in Forest Restoration, Sustainability and Inclusive Development that incorporates rural communities which constitute 70% of Africa’s population.
She has gained extensive experience working with rural communities and assisting government agencies and organizations incorporate sustainability into their businesses thus increasing their positive impact and profit.
Awel Uwihanganye is an accomplished management & leadership specialist with expert skills in executive management, communications and public relations, resource mobilization, diplomacy, and leadership development.
His current roles include serving as the Chief Executive of Makerere University’s Centennial celebrations (Makerere At 100 Project), as the Founder & Senior Director at the LéO Africa Institute, and serving on several Governance Boards as a Director.
As a founder of several change initiatives, he is keenly interested in entrepreneurship, in the power of ideas, to change lives, shape society, and advance development, and “envisions Africa as a frontier for opportunity and growth with a confident, self-aware generation of rising African leaders at the center of this renaissance”.
He is a proud alumnus of Concordia University-Montreal Canada, a privileged fellow of the African Leadership Initiative—East Africa, and a Member of the Aspen Institute’s Global Leadership Network.
A key lesson Awel likes to share: “I have found that when you commit yourself to do good, create value, innovate, and serve society, a lot of good follows. In my case, my contribution to the cause of Africa, humanity, and the world has come with a lot of opportunities and accolades, which in turn challenge me to do more in adding value to the world.”

Catherinerose Barreto is a Co-Founder at Binary Institute of Technology. She is also a consultant on Human Capital Development and Recruitment, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Gender.
Catherinerose is an African Leadership Initiative (ALI) Aspen Fellow 2013. She is the Founding Curator of the World Economic Forum Dar es Salaam Global Shapers Hub. Catherinerose is a member of the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam North, District 9214.

Richard Mugisha is the Managing Partner of Trust Law Chambers, a firm that he founded in 2004.
He has served as the past President of the East African Law Society (EALS) and the former Chairman of the Business Law Reform Commission which reviewed all legislation affecting the commercial environment in Rwanda, and serves on various National Committees, foundations and Company Boards in Rwanda.
He is a member of the Rwanda Bar Association and a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He has also been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Rwanda with residence in Kigali.
Isaac Rugamba is Strategy and Policy Analyst with experience in resource mobilization, project management, market analysis and stakeholder management. Isaac has keen interest in FinTech, green growth and trade and is currently a Senior Analyst at Vanguard Economics.
He is a member of the World Economic Forum-affiliated Global Shapers Community, a YALI Mandela Washington Fellow, a Chevening scholar, and Young and Emerging Leadership Project fellow of the LéO Africa Institute.
Lucy Nshuti Mbabazi is one of the most avid and committed champions of the LéO Africa Institute, and Chair of the Board of Directors –Emeritus.
Lucy serves as the Head of Africa Advocacy and Partnerships of The Better Than Cash Alliance, a UN-hosted partnership of governments, companies, and international organisations that accelerates the transition from cash to digital payments in order to reduce poverty and drive inclusive growth.
Nshuti holds a Master of Science in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology & Management from Laroche University.
Rayner Mugyezi is enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and works with Kampala Associated Advocates.
His Legal Practice focuses on Civil & Commercial litigation, Criminal law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Land transactions, Labour Law with particular expertise in Petroleum taxation & Finance and Intellectual property Law.
Rayner is the Curator of Global Shapers Kampala Hub and also a fellow of Leo Africa Institute's Young & Emerging Leader's Project.
Kwezi Tabaro is Deputy Director of the LéO Africa Institute. He is also the current editor of the Institute publication, the LéO Africa Review.

Fiona Kamikazi Rutagengwa is a Communications Specialist at I&M Bank Rwanda and a Digital Marketing advisor for various companies in Rwanda. She previously worked in Talent advocacy and customer relations in the education, telecommunication, and banking sectors. She is a social activist, a part time blogger & poet, and a political enthusiast.Fiona is also a YELP Fellow of the LéO Africa Institute.

Liz Muange
Liz Muange is the Investment and Value Chain Lead for the Sustainable Urban Economic Development Programme. This is a UKAid funded five year 70-million-pound blended finance initiative looking to develop sustainable urban economic development in 12 municipalities in Kenya.
She has over 12 years of experience in finance and investment advisory, structuring blended finance initiatives, project management and evaluation, entrepreneurship development, and risk management. She sits on various advisory and investment committees. Liz has work experience in over 10 countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
She is the President of the YELP Executive Committee and a member of the Global Shapers Community Nairobi Hub of the World Economic Forum and a Fellow of the Young and Emerging Leaders Project of the LéO Africa Institute.
Mujuni Raymond
Mujuni Raymond is an investigative journalist in East Africa currently working with Nation Media Group as an Editor and show Host for the Fourth Estate program. Raymond is a two time winner of the National Journalism Award for explanatory and Investigative Reporting for his stories that exposed a high end government to government deal for the exchange of refugees for guns between Uganda and Israel. Mujuni is a Young and Emerging Leadership Project fellow of the LéO Africa Institute.

Shirley Kandaabu is the Co-Founder & COO at The icreate Project a platform that works to skill and connect low-income makers to market opportunities whilst providing inclusive financial products such as payments, savings and credit. "Every day for us is about working to integrate Ugandan makers into the global economy and finding affordable ways of bringing their products to international marketplaces."
