## Dar es Salaam, September 2024

The 2024 Annual Leaders' Gathering brought together over 200 members of the LéO Africa network in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania — one of East Africa's most dynamic and rapidly evolving cities.

Over three days, we reflected on the year's achievements, heard from inspiring keynote speakers, celebrated our YELP and Huduma fellows, and deliberated on the strategic direction of the Institute for the coming years.

## Key Themes

Three themes emerged from the conversations that will shape our work in 2025 and beyond:

**The post-colonial generation:** Africa's current generation of emerging leaders is the first to come of age entirely in the post-colonial era. How does this shape their leadership identities, and what are the implications for leadership development?

**Technology and the future of governance:** Artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and the platform economy are transforming the operating environment for leaders in every sector. How do we prepare leaders for this reality?

**Mental health and sustainable leadership:** A candid conversation about the psychological demands of leadership in difficult environments, and the responsibility of leadership development organizations to address these realities.

## Looking Ahead

The 2025 Annual Leaders' Gathering will be held in Kigali, Rwanda. We look forward to welcoming our growing community for another year of dialogue and celebration.
