The theme of the 2018 ALG is Investing in the Future: Human Capital as the Engine for Growth, with three sub-themes: leadership action, inclusion and readiness to invest in the human potential in today’s African youthful population. Key across these three sub-themes will be the need to generate ideas on how young and emerging African leaders can harness their leadership positions to foster economic and political systems that are inclusive, accountable and lead to creation of more opportunities for fellow Africans.

What to expect

Conversations at the ALG will take the shape of keynotes, panels, workshops, knowledge sessions, seminars, as well as outdoor activities around the three key theme areas of leadership action, inclusion, and the state of Africa today. It will also feature an official gala dinner launch of the Annual Leaders Gathering and the Institute’s 10-year vision to create an endowment fund to support LéO Africa Institute’s activities.

Who will attend

The ALG will bring together about 200 outstanding leaders from within the Institute’s network of YELP alumni, current fellows, members of other affiliate networks of the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI) East Africa, members of the Global Shapers community in East Africa, Young Achievers Awards nominees and finalists, emerging leaders in both the private and public sectors as well as leaders in civil society from across East Africa.
