Ignatious Kirunga on Purpose

Ahead of the second YELP seminar in August, we tasked our Class of 2019 Fellows to reflect on the kind of change they would want to bring to their sector/industry through a performance speech.

Ahead of the second YELP seminar in August, we tasked our Class of 2019 Fellows to reflect on the kind of change they would want to bring to their sector/industry through a performance speech. The speeches would borrow from the four principles that underpin the YELP Fellowship: empathy, clarity, knowledge and volunteerism. Below we have reproduced some of the speeches.

Do we all ever sit and wonder or ask ourselves what makes us wake up every morning for that grind or to go to work or for that business?

Yes, we are all looking for money, Right? But to my realization there will never be enough of that.  I feel we spend much time trying to achieve targets and not life’s purposes

We all need to know who we are, what makes us happy? What satisfies us and not depend on other people for our own happiness.

I am saying this because it’s a phase and many people leave this world without reaching that point of self-know how and happiness.

And yes, we all can’t avoid un planned challenges that are a part of life and we can’t change.

I want to say I have been through a couple of phases in life I have been exposed to adulthood and responsibility at an early age , I have grown up trying to fight myself from being someone else , someone so close to me yet to others was seen as very accomplished but guess what ,it’s until I got to the point when I was about to lose this person that made me realize at times we don’t get to choose certain things for example where to be born white or black , male or female , tall or short you can name it .

Though we have a choice to change the future and leave a legacy

we all must know who we are and strive to make other people get to the point of discovering who they are and what matters to them. We all must do the right things now whatever field we are in.

I feel authenticity, empathy, clarity should be among the things we Stand for, do the right thing and extend that to people around you.

I want to do things for others without expectations of personal gain, serve as an exemplary model, and gain as much satisfaction witnessing the success of others as witnessing my own

we all get lost in the world without reaching that point of self-discovery so let us give others kindness, compassion, give them the BEST.

We should prove to ourselves how far we can go in life, not attached to any results – but always pushing ourselves to grow, and to develop our mind and spirits. I appreciate Leo Africa for showing us that example, Awel I am certain you know how proud we are.

Moral of this is to reach a point with every field or what one does let us endeavour to have a reason or a sense as to why we are doing what we are doing and a reason for that

I am building a wealth of knowledge in international markets and business but in the end i intend to put up an audience and support difference causes that help people discover who they are and reach a common goal. A goal of having unity, sense of belonging and reason to live, reason to wake up every morning and do what you have to do and that’s how I intend to bring dignity to our world.
