Fiona was among the pioneers who started the first private TV station (TV 10) in Rwanda where she worked before re-joining Rwanda Broadcasting Agency where she’s a News Anchor and Reporter. With a career in media spanning 6 years, Fiona currently serves as Deputy Chair of the journalists Focal group for the African Court on Human and Peoples rights, is a member of Human Rights First Rwanda, and has moderated high-level meetings, including the Heads of State meeting during the World Economic Forum (Grow Africa) 2016.

Apart from pursuing her degree in Real Estate at University of Nairobi, 19 year old Binu heads the Research and Development pillar of the Kenyan chapter of a project spanning 11 Nile basin countries that seeks to create collaborations and cooperative engagements about food sustainability. An ardent writer, she was the only African finalist in the 2016 Global Peter Drucker Challenge, prior to which she had received a silver medal at the Queens Commonwealth essay writing competition

Alan is a Washington D.C based Ugandan film director, with over 20 film productions to his name. Some, like Meet Mario and Broken Change, made the official selection at various film festivals like the Hoboken International Film Festival at which Meet Mario won the best short film award. He has worked for NBC Universal New York, and on Netflix's Emmy winning show 'Master of None', and now runs his own production company, ManziMedia.

Martin is the founder of E-HEALTH solutions, a Start-up Company with a vision to modernize the health system and improve overall population health through the development, deployment and integration of information technology solutions. Cleofash is the founder of Uganda Micro-Gardens Initiative, a networking organization that links university students and urban micro-farmers to develop household vegetable gardens for sustainability and income generation. Cleofash also works with the Art Planet Academy Uganda, a youth-led non-governmental organization that integrates advocacy for environmental sustainability with social empowerment programs in educational settings. Here, he together with a colleague organize competitions in Kampala’s schools to promote student-led waste management designs for cost-effective systems that couple waste collection with the sorting and processing of recyclables.

Kabejja is a lawyer with a special interest in taxation law. She’s the director for Youth for Sustainable Peace in the Great Lakes Region, a youth-led organization committed to raising awareness about the dangers of Conflict in the Great lakes region. She has attended numerous leadership academies, including the regional Young African Leaders’ Initiative and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung’s Young Leaders’ Forum.

Arnold Atwiine is an architectural designer at Arch Forum Limited. A graduate of Environmental Design, he while at University worked with USHNET (Uganda Human Settlements Network) to construct sustainable garbage banks for the community in Namuwongo, a Kampala suburb, and together with students from Augsburg University of Applied Sciences and Jomo Kenyatta University designed a skills center project to teach Juveniles from Mathere Valley, simple craft skills, necessary for self-employment.

Public Relations Officer Rwanda Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees (MIDIMAR)
A graduate of Mass communication from Uganda Christian University, Richard is the Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees (MIDIMAR) in the Government of Rwanda. Previously, he has worked with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and East African Community Affairs (MINEACOM). A passionate debator, he has worked with young Rwandans under Aspire Debate Rwanda, in which, with the support of the Ministry, they’ve been able to educate and sensitize young people about the benefits and opportunities in the integration of East Africa through debates.

23 year old Isaac Rugamba is a civil servant in Rwanda’s Ministry of Finance, where he works in the Office of the Chief Economist as an External Resources Mobilization Officer. He sees his role as helping wean Rwanda off donor dependency, a goal he says is in line with “a personal dream - to live in an Africa free from Aid and the shackles that come with it”. Isaac is also a member of the global shapers community in Kigali.

Recently selected as a World Economic Forum Global Shaper for Uganda, Liz has had over 5 years’ experience working for different public & private sector organizations ranging from energy to financial services. But after experiencing a personal ordeal battling depression, Liz left the corporate world to start the Tumaini Foundation, to tackle Mental Health challenges, and is determined to change public perception about mental health challenges and addiction on the continent, as a critical step to securing sustainable healthcare solutions for them.

A Student of Urban & Regional Planning at Makerere University, Joan is also a social entrepreneur, working as a youth ambassador for Tunza Eco-generation, a platform that creates environmental awareness among children and youths. She’s also a Nile fellow, engaging university students and communities in creating innovative ideas that can help in finding solutions to food and water shortages, conflict resolution and water management in the Nile basin. Previously, she’s interned with shelter and settlement alternatives housing network, an NGO that advocates for low cost and decent housing for Uganda’s most vulnerable communities.

Kemiyondo CoutinhoActress and Curator A Ka Dope
A recipient of the 2011 Young Achiever’s Award in Uganda, Kemiyondo Coutinho has been writing for African Woman since age 17. She has been founder and director of many arts projects - NuVo Arts Festival in Uganda, Kemistry Klass, a content company geared at producing content for film and TV content, and is now the creator and curator for A Ka Dope, a collective of events aimed at showcasing Uganda's talent. Her plays, including a one-woman show (her first) have been performed in international capitals gaining global acclaim.
